A Full Range of Medical Professional Services

From pre-underwriting clinical risk assessments to expert risk management and claims administration, Darwin has created a health care practice dedicated to organizations that deliver medical care. Before coverage is underwritten and after a claim may arise, our focus is on serving the distinct needs of each medical professional liability client. With up to $10 million in capacity, Darwin can provide primary or excess coverage.

In the medical malpractice sector, the complexity of physician groups’ and health care facilities’ risks requires an intimate understanding of each organization’s operations and areas of exposure. Underwriting medical professional liability accounts to provide only an insurance policy cannot fully mitigate complex risks and the likelihood of future claims. But surrounding policyholders with Darwin’s program that includes risk assessment, insurance coverage, on-going loss prevention, education, and expert claims services makes these complex risks easier to manage.

Darwin’s underwriters and risk managers each have more than 20 years’ experience in the business and bring a superior level of service and dedication to every account. Steve Spina, Darwin’s lead medical professional liability underwriter, has dedicated a majority of his career to underwriting medical professional lines of business.

Since 1983, Barbara Sinclair has been working with health care clients on all lines of business, including medical professional, D&O, GL, workers’ comp, and more. She has held senior-level positions with insurance carriers and brokerage firms.

Susan Chmieleski, APRN, CPHRM, JD, is responsible for all client and risk management services. She provides consulting and client services to Darwin’s health care policyholders, helping them assess and manage their organizational and clinical risk. As a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and attorney, Sue has an expert-level technical background that Darwin’s medical professional clients rely on.

To discuss medical professional account opportunities, please contact Steve Spina at spina@darwinpro.com or 860-507-1022, or Barbara Sinclair at bsinclair@darwinpro.com or 860-507-1057.
