While the summer months are now behind us, the momentum generated by our energetic summer activity is bearing remarkable fruit. At Darwin, we've been relentlessly advancing – developing new products to address market opportunities and enhancing those we already offer. What's more, we're right on track with our business goals: generating premium, positioning our company for the future, and offering services that add value to our producers and policyholders.

New products for a dynamic marketplace:

Tech // 404sm: Darwin has just launched a breakthrough technology and information errors and omissions liability product. Tech // 404sm is the first specialty liability insurance product of its kind to address the technology and information risks of providers and users alike. This highly evolved product bundles coverage for the major technology and information risks into one comprehensive coverage form, addressing multiple risks simultaneously. Under the leadership of Drew Bartkiewicz, we're confident that Tech // 404sm will transform the technology and information liability market. Click here for more information on Tech // 404sm.

Public Entity Business:
Darwin has entered into a program arrangement with Professional Government Underwriters, Inc. (PGU), whereby Darwin will be the exclusive provider of professional liability coverages for PGU’s public entity clients. Three segments of public entity business are served by this program: public officials professional liability, police professional liability, and school board legal liability. Each will have a segment-specific coverage form. The program is available nationally through PGU.  Find out more about our new PGU program.

American Medical Billing Association:
Speaking of partnerships, Darwin has teamed with Rockwood Programs to offer members of the American Medical Billing Association errors and omissions coverage that is specific to their unique liability needs. Click here for program details.

Health Care Management Liability: We’ve made several enhancements in our health care area. We are actively filing to have an admitted D&O product. Our first phase is underway and we have admitted filings approved in select states already. Also, to capitalize on recent market conditions, we’ve increased our capacity for managed care errors and omissions coverage to $20 million. And, we’ve hired Cindy Oard to lead our health care management liability underwriting team. This demonstrates our continued commitment to the health care management liability market.

Service:

Value-added Risk Management Services: Darwin and Rockwood Programs have enlisted the services of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP (WEMED) to provide complimentary risk management assessments and loss control services to our Target Markets’ member insureds. These services are structured to provide insureds with education and feedback on areas of exposure. With many years of experience defending insurance agencies in professional liability claims, WEMED attorneys have the expertise to identify high risk practices and offer guidance on organizational best practices. LPL Risk Management:
In July, Darwin introduced a new complimentary risk management program for Darwin's lawyers professional liability insureds. Darwin partnered with the law firm of Hinshaw and Culbertson, LLP to provide multiple risk management services including two hours access (at no charge) to a risk management hotline to discuss risk management issues or problems with which they need advice. Other services include an interactive website and up to three credit hours of on-line CLE. Click here for more information on the LPL risk management program.

Stephen Sills
