Risk Management Happenings: Darwin continues to add value beyond coverage terms for our policyholders. Our risk management team is actively working with our health care clients to deliver meaningful loss control/risk management programs and to find ways to reduce areas of exposure. Some recent examples include:

* Hosting a regional risk management seminar for our Oklahoma-based health care/medical professional policyholders. Darwin's experts and local attorneys partnered to provide a full day of education on issues that impact these organizations. Topics included disclosure of unanticipated outcomes, national patient safety goals, claims issues, legal and regulatory updates, credentialing and peer review.

* Susan Chmieleski, vice president of health care and director of risk management at Darwin, recently spoke at the annual Law Education Institute (LEI) Conference. Sue presented to health care attorneys, including in-house counsel for many health care institutions, on current med mal market dynamics, availability and affordability issues, and the emphasis on underwriting quality organizations (from both a financial and clinical risk standpoint).
